About the cottage:
Sitting on the porch on a warm spring evening you can watch fireflies in the mangroves to the left signaling to potential mates in the grass below. We named this cottage after the namesake of the resort, the firefly. This is not so much literal, although we do have fireflies, as it is a metaphor for this place. Fireflies were once abundant in this part of the country, like the little cracker cottages that once existed all up and down the Gulf Coast. But, over time, light, people and pesticides have encroached on the little beetles’ habitat and they, like these quaint old cottages, are becoming ever rarer. If you don’t happen to come when our fireflies are around, you can enjoy some of those captured by Iowa-based photographer Radim Schreiber’s Firefly Photos displayed in this lovingly updated cottage.
Tucked away from the road and facing the back bay with views beyond the lawn to the water and the mangroves beyond, this air-conditioned, queen bed, open floor plan cottage boasts a full kitchen with a two-element electric cooktop, large convection toaster oven, microwave and sizeable refrigerator with freezer. A sitting area with an overstuffed dual reclining leather sofa and a tropical rattan armchair on an Oriental wool rug is completed with a 43″ LED flat screen TV with full satellite programming and SIRIUS XM radio. The small bath has a tiled shower, sink and toilet. The airy sleeping area has a new queen hybrid (foam/innerspring) mattress on a poplar wood platform bed covered in soft 100% organic cotton sheets and a colorful tropical quilt and ample fluffy and firm pillows. A 24″ oscillating wall fan moves air-conditioned air and available inspiration around the whole cottage. The solid white pinewood walls, planked ceiling with schoolhouse lighting and ample windows with broad wooden blinds create serene and nautical vibe for your respite in Cedar Key.

- Check in after 3:00 pm. Checkout is noon.
- Single or double occupancy (2 person/cottage maximum).
- Minimum guest age is 12.
- We regret we cannot accommodate pets.
- All cottages are no smoking. Smoking is permitted in outdoor spaces, including decks and porches.
- Firefly Cottage is not wheelchair accessible.
Rates:
- The Firefly Cottage rents for between $129.00-$199.00/night depending on day of the week, demand, and season (Festivals excluded)
- Actual rates for specific dates will be quoted at the time of reservation or we can email a link with rates.
- A weekly rate (7 nights) is available for $830.00 (2022 low season)/$945.00(2023 high season)
- A two-night minimum is in effect for this cottage.
